Allen - Your Appraiser and Vintage Guitar Pro

Allen does all the appraisals himself to make sure they're done right - after all, his signature is on them. He's been in the guitar business for over 30 years. Born and raised in Richmond, VA, he began working on guitars in 1979, then started working in different guitar shops in 1980 doing sales and beginning his repair education. He collected and repaired guitars for years before opening his first shop in 1993 - Allen's Music - in Mechanicsville, VA, where he did lots of buying and repairs, and worked the guitar show circuit.

In 1995, he opened a shop in downtown Richmond - 2nd Street Guitar Company. In addition to running his own shop, he covered a large portion of the repair work and authentications for other shops in the Richmond area. In 1997, he went out to Southern California for a NAMM show. That was all she wrote. He went back to Richmond long enough to shut down the shop and pack his bags. He continued collecting and repairing guitars and started VintageGuitarPro.com.

Alyce - The Website and Office

Mistress of the Web. She who must be obeyed. Born in Chicago and raised in VA, she met Allen in middle school... (you don't really expect me to tell what year that was, do you?) She spent most of the '90s in upstate NY, returned to VA for a couple of years to regroup, then loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly... well actually it was a car... and Orange County.

She ran into Allen, married him, and helped him start this website. She also did some freelance website design and wrote tons of freelance articles, but still spends most of her time working on this website and typing up those appraisals. As for guitars... She likes acoustic guitars best, especially early European romantic guitars. She also has a soft spot for whacky '60s Japanese-made electric guitars and '50s - '60s Fender Telecasters. Her goals are to dredge up any utterly obscure and here-to-fore unheard of guitar brand, maker, or distributor; and to acquire a Paisley Tele.
