Vintage Guitar Serial Numbers - G & LFrom 1980 to 1996, G & L serial numbers began with a G for guitar or a B for bass, and were followed by a six digit production number. All production runs started at 000500.Beginning in 1997, G & L serial numbers have six digits - a CL followed by four numbers. To date a G & L, look in the neck pocket for the date.
