From 1966 to 1969, some models retained the serialization from the original
series (shown below), while others were given a two letter prefix with a new numbering series
for each model. Each model with the new serialization started numbering at 101 (following the prefix).

In 1979, Guild reintroduced the two letter prefix plus serial number system.
Each serialization system began with 100001 following the two letter prefix. This continued through 1989.
In 1987, an additional serialization system was introduced where the model designation
was the prefix for the serial number; like so: D300027 = 27th D-30 produced.
From 1990 through present, Guild continued the prefix plus serial number system.
The Guild Custom Shop instruments--45th Anniversary, Finesse, and Deco--each use
a different numbering system. Serial numbers indicating the guitar's number in the series are on the
back of the headstock. A seven digit code can be found inside the guitars. The first three numbers indicate
production sequence--they all started at 500. The last four digits indicate the date; the fifth and sixth digits are
the month, and the year is indicated by the fourth and seventh digits in reverse.
